Dr.-Ing. Marco Walter

After diploma in geology, Marco Walter obtained his doctor’s degree in geophysics at the university of Stuttgart, Germany in 2012. His thesis was about the discovery of tiny slidequakes ML -3 on Alpine landslides applying the method of Nanoseismic Monitoring. He then founded his own service company and worked mainly for the oil and gas industry on natural and induced seismicity related topics. Now, he is Managing Director and shareholder of Sonicona.

Prof. Dr. Manfred Joswig

Prof. Joswig studied physics and electrical engineering, and received his doctor and habilitation in geophysics at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany. He worked as scientific consultant for nuclear disarmament, on medical image processing, and on signal analysis by Artificial Intelligence. He was professor for geophysics at Tel Aviv University, Israel 1999 -2003, and since then professor and head of institute for geophysics at university of Stuttgart, Germany. Focus of his research was forensic and engineering seismology and the development of Nanoseismic Monitoring. Prof. Joswig served as board member of Deutsche Geophysikalische Gesellschaft, and was founding chair of the working group on induced seismicity. After retirement in 2019 he continues consulting for CTBTO and the oil and gas industry, and is shareholder of Sonicona.

Dipl.-Phys. Rolf Häfner

After finishing his diploma thesis on semiclassical modelling of Bose-Einstein condensates at the Institute for theoretical Physics I at the University of Stuttgart in 2010, Rolf Häfner analyzed the splitting and excitation mechanisms of the Earth’s normal modes at the Institute for Geophysics at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. In 2017, he joined Sonicona as a seismologist and is mainly responsible for the software development.
